INFORMATION IS CRITICAL!

More information is needed on sea lampreys including data about where they are, and in what numbers. Data are also needed on the number of lampreys attached to fish and number of lamprey scars.

Sea lamprey control officials use this information to determine how well the control program is working and to better understand where sea lampreys are in the lake.

Sea lamprey control officials and fishery management agencies carry out assessments of sea lamprey numbers and wounding rates throughout the Great Lakes basin. Your observations will add valuable information to these surveys. With all this information, sea lamprey control can be better targeted.

At the end of the year, your information will be combined with observations of other fishers and analyzed to help understand where sea lampreys are most abundant.
