The Yellow Perch Task Group (YPTG) consists
of fisheries scientists from state, provincial, federal
and academic agencies conducting research on Lake
Erie. The YPTG is a sub-committee of the Lake Erie
Committee (LEC), appointed by the LEC and addressing
charges from the LEC relevant to yellow perch management
in Lakes Erie and St. Clair and connecting waters.
The following are the charges to the
YPTG for the 2013-2014 work year:
Maintain and update centralized time series of datasets required for population models and assessment including:
a) Fishery harvest, effort, age composition, biological and stock parameters
b) Survey indices of young of year, juvenile and adult abundance, size at age and biological parameters
c) Fishing harvest and effort by grid.
Support a sustainable harvest policy by:
a) Examining exploitation strategies
b) Recommending an allowable harvest for 2011 for each management unit
c) Supporting decision/risk analysis strategies for yellow perch management
Support completion of a Lake Erie Yellow Perch Management Plan.
Support QFC modeling efforts for catch-age models and harvest policies.
