The Great Lake Fishery Commission supports and facilitates the work of several
committees and boards designed to focus on special needs in Great Lakes fishery
management. By and large, the committees and boards are composed of state,
provincial, tribal, and federal officials whose duties involve fishery
management on a multi jurisdictional level. Also, citizen advisors are appointed
by the Commission (based on nominations from U.S. state governors and Canadian
federal officials) to examine and be heard on all proposed recommendations,
programs, and activities relating to lake they represent.
